OUR PRACTICE
A leading biokinetics practice in Johannesburg, Gareth Devine Biokineticists helps people move better, recover smarter, and live stronger.

With over 20 years of experience as a biokineticist, Gareth brings extensive clinical expertise together with firsthand insight from his career as a professional footballer. He represented the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits University) and Ajax Cape Town between 1996 and 2006, and played junior national football for South Africa at U17, U20, and U23 level. He currently works with the Lions Rugby Union, further strengthening his understanding of elite performance, injury management, and return-to-play demands. This unique background gives him a deep understanding of performance, injury, and the journey back to full function.
Gareth has a special interest in orthopaedic rehabilitation and works closely with patients recovering from injury or surgery, as well as with doctors, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure collaborative, outcome-focused care. Having attended and presented at international courses, he integrates global best practice into every personalised rehabilitation programme.
At the core of his approach is a simple philosophy: to create a professional yet welcoming space where people feel motivated, supported, and confident in their recovery. Through scientific, individualised rehabilitation, Gareth is committed to helping every patient move better, grow stronger, and return to the activities they love.
Gareth Devine
Welcome to Gareth Devine Biokineticists, where Gareth Devine combines professional, science-based rehabilitation with real-world sporting experience, creating a fun and friendly environment focused on helping you recover and perform at your best.

I’m a patient-focused Biokineticist who enjoys helping people on their journey towards pain-free and confident movement. Since completing my studies in 2017 and gaining experience across orthopaedic injuries, chronic conditions, sports rehab, and posture correction, I’ve loved working in a multidisciplinary environment where patients get well-rounded care.
My interests lie in injury rehab for patients of all ages, runners and individuals with back pain, often blending pilates-based movement into treatment. When I’m not in the practice, you’ll usually find me outdoors, running, travelling, or staying active.

Where Expertise Meets Heart

Since graduating as a Biokineticist from Nelson Mandela University in 2019, I’ve worked across private practice and professional sports, including football and my current role with Lions Rugby Company. I specialise in orthopaedic rehab, strength and conditioning, and biomechanics to support
performance and return-to-play.
I’m passionate about helping everyone - from elite athletes to everyday individuals to move better, reduce pain, and build strong foundations for long-term wellbeing.
Keagan Bouwer

I’m a patient-centred Biokineticist who loves using exercise to help people feel and move better. Since completing my Biokinetics studies in 2021, I’ve focused on knee, ankle, and back rehab, as well as helping older adults build strength, balance, and confidence. I also enjoy supporting wellness and weight-loss goals with realistic, sustainable movement habits.
I often tell my patients that “motion is lotion.” When we move well and consistently, our bodies function better. My goal is simple: to help people move pain-free, trust their bodies again, and feel genuinely good in their day-to-day lives.
Annick Snyman

I’m a Biokinetics intern who recently graduated from the University of Pretoria and am completing my internship at Gareth Devine Biokinetics. I’m also gaining hands-on experience in professional sport with Lions Rugby Company, supporting performance and rehabilitation. Growing up in sport sparked my passion for helping people recover from injury and return to the activities they love. I’m committed to learning, building strong clinical skills, and helping people make movement a meaningful part of their everyday lives.
I believe in balanced, sustainable movement and enjoy helping people use exercise to feel and function at their best.

Had a great experience with Gareth Devine Biokinetics, especially working with Annick. She was professional, knowledgeable, and very supportive throughout my ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair recovery. Thanks to her guidance, I was able to get back to 100%. Highly recommended.

I had back pain for months! went to physio, saw a doctor, took meds. Nothing helped till someone recommended Gareths practice. I had the pleasure of being helped by Annick and she actually helped me get results and checked up on me regularly on whatsapp. Highly recommend them. I wish I went sooner.

Been seeing Gareth since 2018 season for reoccurring hamstring tears and since working with him back then ,for 2 seasons I had no hamstrings issues. So definitely a valuable asset to have someone like him in your corner as a sports professional.

Their words not ours.
After a year of no dancing or running due to an ankle injury and finally an operation, Keagan has me back on my feet running, jumping and stronger than ever. His sessions are fun, challenging and have given me confidence to trust my ankle again. Thank you Keagan!
